Dry Eye

Dry Eye Disease treatment

Dry eye disease is a common condition that occurs when your tears aren't sufficient to provide adequate lubrication of eyes. Tears can be inadequate and unstable for many reasons like poor-quality tear or less secretions of tears. This tear instability leads to inflammation and damage of the eye's surface.

Symptoms

Signs and symptoms, which usually affect both eyes, may include:

  • A stinging, burning or scratchy sensation in your eyes
  • Stringy mucus in or around your eyes
  • Eye redness
  • High sensitivity to ambient light
  • Difficulty with nighttime driving
  • Difficulty wearing contact lenses
  • Watery eyes, which is the reflex response due to the irritation caused by dry eyes
  • Blurred vision or eye fatigue during screen hours

Diagnosis and treatment

Various tests and procedures are used to determine the cause of your dry eye and then it is treated accordingly.
